Let's Play Catch Up

Christmas 2012
It has been a very long time since I last blogged, so I have to play a little catch up. After my darling daughter turned one a few things happened. Quite a few things. I mean, she is coming up on 21 months, so something was bound to happen along the way. Here are some highlights. I'm hoping to do individual posts on some of the more major events in this list- but if I don't get to them because I'm too busy (and you will see why I'll be super busy soon), at least you have had a little overview with a few cute pictures of my daughter along the way.
Decorating the Tree

Child Friendly Nativity

Milli was afraid to walk when we first got to MI- but the plush carpet helped her be less afraid of falling.

How the Modern Family Spends Christmas 1

How the Modern Family Spends Christmas 2

My Texan in the Snow (Milli says, "I'm really from Washington, Mom!")

We introduced Aunt Mae to World of Warcraft!

Milli burned her hand on a humidifier after we returned to Texas.

Reason #2 why I will be super busy soon! (Milli is reason #1)

WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!

Milli was attacked by a flying shark! She doesn't look scared at all.

In May, I went home for a wedding. Look how big the kids got!

Aunt Bethany hosted a tea. We got gussied up for it.

Then Aunt Bethany and Gideon came back to Texas with us!

We went to an Alligator Zoo!

We made bread and bagels.

We got a flat tire on the way to the Blueberry Festival.

We watched a turtle escape.

My kid got cuter and cuter!

We ate Blueberries at the festival, even though they ran out of berries to pick or buy.

We also drank A LOT of water!

Game club (MEK-OP) began meeting at our house.

The engineering boys made us this raised map holder!

We are uber-nerds!

My husband really likes his nephew!

This sums up their relationship- Gideon tries to show love and Milli flips out.

Milli discovered a new secret room!

We did some gardening.

Dirt is fun!

Not afraid to touch the gater on the nose!

Just before baking- yum!

We picked blackberries.

Everyone had fun!

Then we made jam!

And crisp!

After dropping Bethany and Gideon off at the train in Chicago, we went to Plow Creek!

Where Milli showed off her upper body strength!

Anniversary #4. We also spent our honeymoon and anniversary #1 at this retreat cabin.

Daisy Hill.

Our most recent trip was to Alaska!

Milli found a new friend!

Day cruise on Resurrection Bay.

At Exit Glacier.

It was 80 almost every day we were in Alaska.

When we got back, we got a puppy! Reason #3 why I will be so busy.

He does sleep sometimes.

And Daddy joined the Longview Running Club! This was his first club race. In the most recent one, he ran a minute faster!
We did a few other things this year, as well. We worked a lot on the house, started a garden as well as did some landscaping around the front path (as shown). I took a trip to Tulsa with Milli in April- none of those pictures survived because of a camera setting error on my part. Daddy played intramural basketball and some ultimate Frisbee as well as let two undergrads in a research project in May. I seemed to catch everything there was to catch this pregnancy (2 stomach bugs, the flu, 3 colds, a respiratory illness, and some bad spring allergies) and I lost 14 lb during my first 7 1/2 months of pregnancy. Luckily, I gained 8 back while in Alaska, even though we dined mostly on salmon and veggies. I hope to bring more details in future- but for now, I just need to get this posted so I don't feel like too much of a loser.
