Easter Dresses!

So, I made some dresses for me and the girls for Easter this year. Here they are. It was the first time that I upcycled a pair of jeans into a skirt. I had this material hanging around for a few years and was hoping to make a sun dress out of it. But when I looked at it, I decided it needed something. An entire dress in this fabric would not have been flattering on me. So, when a favorite pair of jeans expired, e.i. ripped, I made them into a skirt. The fabric was so nice and had such a good drape that I decided to make dresses for the girls for Easter. I am just a novice sewer, so I decided to crochet the top and just add the skirt. This is how they turned out. I love, love, love them!

Celebrating National Sibling Day

Yesterday was National Sibling Day, so I thought I would share a few pics of siblings (not all mine).

These beautiful girls are daughters of a friend of mine. They live in Portland.

Here they are again, putting on a dance show for us.

This is my "sister," Keoina.

These sisters have matching Easter dresses! We miss you, CTK family!

Grown up sisters.

This is my youngest sister and my brother at my cousin's wedding.

This is my sister, brother-in-law, and sort of brother at my cousin's wedding.

Blurry, but had to have a pic of them dancing!

This is my sister- and brother-in-law.

My husband and his sister.

My daughters when they met for the first time (Molly was about an hour old).

Me and my sister.

My husband and his brother.

Again.

And again.

My husband's sibs (and dad).

My mom with her sibs and grandma (my mom is the one on the left).

Me and Rachael.

Me and Michael.

Me and all my sibs.

Again- a few years later.

My two youngest sibs.

My sisters and me!

My cousins.

My nephews.
Somehow, I have no pictures of my dad with his sibs. Have to work on that one.

Molly is 6 months!

Our baby girl turned 6 months old this week! I can't believe that six months have gone by already. I know that those kids of sayings are very cliche, but the older I get the more true they become. Even though I have spent the last six months (well, more than two years, really) trying to enjoy every day and stage of my baby girls, the time still slips away. One of the best sentiments I ever heard about children is, "Long days, short years." If you want proof, go back to my old posts of Emilia's Birth (Feb 2012- posted late for obvious reasons), Milli is 1! (Nov 2012), Let's Catch Up (Aug 2013), and Milli is 2!! (Nov 2013).

When Milli turned six months old, we had her pictures professionally done. Well, we had a friend do them for free, but she is now a professional and her pics were amazing! We didn't have one year pics done for her and won't have six month ones done for Molly because we just don't have a discretionary fund large enough at the moment (all non-essential money is going toward new windows to rid us of the dreaded lead-based paint ones that don't open!). Still, I hope the pictures we do have make you smile.

This is the smiley face I see every day! She is a Jolly Molly (her nickname).

This is one of our first entire family pictures- taken in Alaska in July of 2013. Molly was 7 months old (in womb).

Milli got to hold her sister when she was about one hour old! One of the joys of giving birth at home.

This is Diane. She helped me get Molly out!

Both my girls do this one eyebrow raise thing- just like their daddy.
